I have these four codes off and on the last week or so. 0513, 0514, 0237, 0483. I know what they are but why? The truck seems to run fine, then a cel. Then it clears on its own after a day or so then BAM!, its back. Any thoughts. It has been real cold and snowy here for the last two weeks. It seems like this started around the real cold snap last week. -10F*

PS Last time I got the weird 0513 code was when my fan clutch quit on the oppisite side of the country from home! Been gone till now.

Is your truck winterized with battery heaters? IF it is then you need to pull your battery temp sender from beneath your battery and zip tie it out of the way so it is not warming up and throwing the battery codes. As far as the other two goes, I'd start by watching a datastream on a scanner while driving it and see if you can figure out what is causing your issues. ???

P0513 Incorrect Immobilizer Key

P0514 Battery Temp Sens Perf

P0237 MAP Sens Voltage Too Low

P0483 Cooling Fan Speed

Have you cleared them manually, or just let them clear on their own? Even thou the CEL goes away the ECM keeps a record until its manually cleared. So they could be old. Clear them, and see what happens. If its been cold it could be the P0514 triggering the CEL becuase the sensor may get cold air from the fender and the ECM thinks it should be warmer.

There was a flash that dealt with the P0514. Have you had any flashes lately?

To AH64ID,

My compliments, that was the kind of reply we need to see more often. Informative, helpful comments and suggestions.

I have never had any reflash since new 12/05. I am aware of the battery code and the issues with it. I get a cel from time to time and it just goes away. No biggie. Usually the bat. code and a crank pos. code (TST I believe) Always go away. It was the other 3 that concern me. They have since cleared and the truck never skipped a beat. I was curious if it was pointing at anything. Thanks guys!!

PS I just pull my codes with the 3 key cycle trick. There is no cel right now and if I go cycle the key it will show no codes. If they are stored you must have to use a scanner to see them. Correct??

I would find a local guy with a Smarty, have him read/clear your codes and update your ECM version by loading and removing Smarty software.

I have a TST from when the truck was new. Never ever run it higher than 3/3. Mostly 1/1. What do you guys think about upgrading to a smarty. Would like to do a bigger single turbo and 50hp inj. this year. (maybe)

I have no personal experiance with a TST but I am quite happy with my Smarty Jr.

I have heard the TST/Smarty stack is pretty deadly. The Smarty has a great bottom-end and the TST shines up top.

Wasnt sure if the TST is getting dated. Wondering if the smarty has more/better features. Or a stack would work!!! Best of both.
