I finally replaced my stock straight piped exhaust with a 4". Currently I just have the 4" downpipe and a 5' section of straight 4" with no muffler and no tailpipe. The sound is 10X better than straight 3", much better tone and sound and much more turbo whistle at idle. Anybody that's hesitant to do their exhaust, just do it! I'm still debating on just turning it down where it's at or running it out in front of of the tire on the passenger side, I know I don't want a full tailpipe though, I don't care for that look.

man, get a tailpipe on there, or the back of your truck is gonna be black in no time

I've been running it without a tailpipe for 2 months and haven't noticed ANY black soot on the truck. It's a white truck and I wash it weekly. For whatever reason my truck don't smoke very much anyway. I would think an Edge Comp on 3x5 would smoke, but only if I go WOT from a low rpm it'll puff a tad then clear right up.

My muffler split wide open and I ran it for about 3 months (stock at that time), the whole underside and tailgate was greeessy and sooty. New 4" exhaust still sounds good with a tailpipe. Open the rear slider window and you'll hear it plenty.

A pipe out the side in front of the rear wheel and you'll have 1 dirty wheel. Just my $. 02.
