it is a 2015 ,have not had it to the dealer the lite just came on when I went to use the 4 wheel drive no engagement and the lite stays on

Did you get under the front end and look at the electric cad system and check the electrical connections?

Checked all fuses pulled apart electrical connector on transfer case and sprayed with contact cleaner all contacts look good. I wonder if there is a module somewhere to control the engagement motor ?

It is a two part system. The transfer case that you talked about and the Center Axel Disconnect on the front axle. There is an electric motor there and most likely a switch that indicates it has tied the axles together.

If all else fails disconnect both negatives on your batteries and leave them disconnected for a couple minutes and reconnect and give it a try.

i recently had my 6th actuator replaced. Don't understand why these keep failing and Chrysler can't figure out what keeps causing these to fail. I'm very frustrated with this and kind of puts me off the RAM. I really do like the truck, but this is the most aggravating thing I have experienced with this truck considering I don't even use 4 wheel drive, and wish I never paid extra to get it. It's always the electronic sensor attached to the actuator that fails. Must be made in China. Oh well.

On a side note: I have had this truck now 6 years, and the part number is the same as the one replaced on mine 6 times. The "AA" is the same original part that has never been revised or fixed.

I rarely use mine maybe has been 2 years I am now going to engage it every month to see if that cures the issue

Doesn't matter. Most of my failures have been on long trips when all of a sudden the message to service 4WD appears. Not even using it. Seems it is always an electrical part of the actuator. Low voltage, etc. I don't know. Dealership told me that they have been replacing a lot in the Jeeps lately as well. Must be using the same part. Makes you think when this part is readily available in stock at the dealership.

no they made in mexico. you got other problems with your truck if they replaced 6. its obvious. dealer probly has no idea where to look so the easier thing is change the actuator as its a 10min job at most

Kind of have to agree with you, but my last actuator lasted 1-1/2 years. I have even had my instrument cluster replaced due to erroneous messages. I guess they must have checked wiring, who knows.

dealers are just parts changers with no diagnosis abilities. the actuator could be easily bench tested in minutes. but the chances of 6 bad actuators must be million to 1. even 2 bad actuators seems highly unprobable. from the outside it just looks to be a electric motor with a couple spur or worm gears but nothing complex

I'm not sure my last actuator actually failed. 400+ miles into my trip the Service 4WD message appeared. Light stayed on the rest of my 500+ mile trip. Next morning light did not turn on, and nothing wrong with the actuator at that point. 500+ mile trip back home, no messages. Was able to go into 4WD with no problem. Took to dealer and and was replaced again. So, this is where I have been for 6 years now and 6 actuators. Previously, a CEL did appear, but not this time or the last time. I'm totally stumped with this.
