The 4 wheel drive indicator light was burned out, I replaced it and it still did not come on, I noticed in the manual there is a wiring diagram(8W-23) that shows a 4x4 indicator switch on the front axle, do I need to have the hubs locked in to get the light to come on? I thought the transfer case switch(8W-25) was all there was. (it's raining so I am asking here instead of getting wet)

There is no switch on the front axle. The switch is on the transfer case. It doesn't matter if the hubs are locked or not. I suppose you could try to unplug the switch and jumper the terminals on the plug and see if the light comes on. Make sure it's shifted all the way into 4x4 too, you may need to have the truck moving to fully engage the transfer case.

When you say the light still doesn't come on, did you test it after you put the dash back together?

If so, the bulb may have just slipped out of it's mount in the dash--the wires (for mine at least) are ridiculously short, and it's a royal pain to get the dash back together without the silly bulb popping out.

Yes, you would think Dodge could have sprung for an extra inch of wire, it was the last thing I did with my fingers through the speedo hole as the panel went into place..... I did go look under the truck at the front axle, there is not any sensor or wiring on it, what I saw in the manual must be for a different series axle...

Just a little off topic here about the 4x4 switch... I just noticed while thumbing through my chassis diagnostic manual, it lists the 4x4 switch on the transfer case if you have a 241 case and on the left front axle if you have the 205 case. I always thought the switch to be on the case as well, maybe the Chrysler manual is wrong.
