Alright fellas how do I reach this level in H. p. ? By my signiture you can tell the mods I already have, but need some good advise on anouther Bombing run. I am getting beat by my buddy Fred Swanson and his 24v, and I cant have that it is unexceptable.

Your gonna have to get a better pump and free up the turbo restriction. HX-40 and 215 pump with a good plate will get you there and beyond

Get some big injectors, big delivery valves (191's or laser cut), #4 plate or custom grind, do the usual exhaust BOMBs (get rid of it all... ), set the timing to a healthy number... watch the gauges peg and hold on tight... . you'll be pretty close to 400rwhp, if not more.

All the little 'tune-up' stuff must be done too. Make sure you have clean filters, valves adjusted, proper fuel pressure, etc.

I've seen stock turbos make 400rwhp, is it good for them?... No. Does it work?... Oh yeah!

If you want to do all this without soot, forget about it... . you'd be dreaming in 3-D color with DTS 5. 1 Surround Sound.

Have you dyno'd your truck yet? I would imagine with a #4, injectors, and governor mods you should be at least at 400 Hp. I have a smaller (#10) plate and I'm making over 400. Where is your plate set at? Also with the PDR HX 35 what housing are you using, what exhaust mods have you done. What kind of boost and EGT's are you getting?

With him being an auto guy. He's got the 180 pump I believe. That would make the difference. Remember a #10 plat is rated for 330hp.

The way I understand it, the numbers have nothing to do with the HP rating. A #4 plate would not work as well in my truck because I have a 215 pump. The #10 plate with 370 injectors will flat move that truck. The #4 worked great in MDW's 95 standard truck. He put 360 at the rear wheels with a #4 plate, 370 injectors, and a gov spring kit. Propane put him well over 400hp after a those mods.

Curtis,I thought the only difference between the stock auto. vs. stock 5 spd. was injectors ?? These have already been replaced by DD III's based on his post. What do I know ? Still learning.

Garry.

Garry,

The pumps are considerably different. The smaller pumps have a different cam profile as well as having different plungers. This is why us small pump guys save our nickels and dimes to get the big pump:D

cumminsgetme, I guess I learn something new all the time on this site. Your truck must go like hell with your set up. Luckily you have the sachs clutch to hold all that power. What kind of power are you making?

something bothers me about this mith of camplates, any one will work in all pumps, it just makes more power in a bigger pump. Like the #10 is the biggest recomended in a 215 but a #5 will make a bunch more power in it.

Adam,

You must be able to help Jim achieve his goal. If there's any way to get more power I'm sure you've done it. :D :D How do you like the new injectors. Did they help get more power. Cause if you keep it up I will never catch up. :(

Garry,

I haven't dyno'd the truck but I would guess it to be some where around 385. I know of people with similar mods who have dyno'd in that neighborhood. I'm real pleased my Sachs clutch, it handles the abuse very well.

Adam,

On the [late # the #4,5,6 are made for the pumps in the 94 & 95 trucks with the 160,175 & 180 HP in the 215 pump they would probably put out too much fuel & we don't want that now do we????

Jim it sounds like you need some help whooping Freds 24valve. I just heard, from a reliable source, that Fred is not only installing SM injectors but a nos kit is on its way  I have a two stage propane kit that you could have free, you'll also need some high flow delivery valves, an HX40 that actually comes stock on a 5. 9 marine engine [I just found it & it spools quick, but still has a 4" outlet for better exhaust flow] Some top secrect governor parts, of course some 12valve SM injectors & bigger injection lines to get the fuel in quicker, did I mention a camshaft that works good from 1000rpm to 5500rpm:eek: ported cyl. head, copper head gasket, over balance the engine, flycut the pistons to clear the bigger valves coming at em:p oh I forgot we're only trying to beat a 24valve skip the last three items ;)
