Every single TSB problem has appeared in my truck (outta warranty of course)

Steering clunk, vacuum failure, window leak, brakes, transmission lines melted, transmission leaks everywhere, vacuum pump dead, main seals leaking, front seals leaking, differentials leaking, xfer case leaking, drivers door bolt/weld fer window track broken, death wobble unless tires NEW, steering wanders and PULLS to right, black tar gurgling outta the windshield seals, I wish Chevy could put the CUmmins in their trucks... . My dad's 6. 2 Suburban is still runnin around lookin' pristine after 20 years 400k miles...

Anyonne got an International Scout they wanna SELL????? Cuz I have just the motor for it...

Owner negligence?

Daimler/Chrysler KNEW in 1996 that they a had a problem with their 900. 00 vacuum pumps. They knew then that vacuum pump failure would expose them to HUGE liability in pre 97 vehicles which relied on vacuum for brake assist. So in CLASSIC Chrysler style, instead of FIXING the vacuum pump in 1997, they slapped a power steering pump off a K-car production line ON THE SIDE OF THE VACUUM PUMP just to power the brakes. THey didnt change the vacuum pump, they extended the warranty on 96 trucks to 7 years.

Lessee, I guess "owner negligence" caused the following:

Drivers door spot welds (owner should have magna fluxed all spot welds to detect metal fatigue).

Front brakes; Owner should have known that although truck was rated at 8800 GVW it should have never been loaded to anywhere near those values; owner should have known he needed MUCH larger rotors, pistons and rear wheel cylinders in order to actually STOP an 8800 lb truck! DOH! (in DC's defence, they DID replace wheel cylinders for those who said the magic words to the dealer: RAPID FRONT BRAKE WEAR, AT FULL GVW, other wise, you keep replacing front pads till the rotors disintegrate (after about 3 sets BTW)

Windshield: Owner should have re-caulked with DAP silicone.

Main seals: Owner should pulled engine at first sign of leak and replaced gaskets seals.

Vacuum pump owner should have done something, dunno what

etc etc

SLOW DOWN SON... ... .

Obviously all of us don't have these problems or we would be on the " who's got a Chevy for sale website?" My truck has 388,XXX miles on it. Yeah I've changed the from t brakes 4 times. I've changed the rear brakes twice. I once thought the vacuum pump was bad and actually found an open hose. Then I thought it was bad again (because my cruise didn't work right) and read a thread about how to retrain the brain for the cruise (truly a PITA but a great remedy). When I first bought the truck, I thought that the front end was way too weak, but hey, one set of ball joints 100K ago and still running strong :D .

Are you fixing the truck, or is someone else? Make sure what they say is wrong, is wrong. Before you pay to fix it!!!!
