Does anyone own or have owned a Springfield Armory . 45 ACP ?. How did you like or dislike it?. I would like all comments as I am considering purchasing one.

What is your favorite barrel length?.

Thank you for all info,

Gary

Are you looking at the 1911 style or the XD45? I have two XD40's (no 45... yet!) and love them. Unfortunately, I don't have a 1911 model... yet!:-laf

I just bought a . 45 SA 1911 with a 5" barrel. So far I really like it. LOOOOOOONG time ago I had a Colt Combat Commander with (I think) a 3" barrel. It was great for CCW, but kicked like a Missouri Mule. This full size 5 " shoots really sweet. I just posted another topic about it, needing to get the rear sights adjusted.

I have an XD . 45 in the 4" service. Great weapon, works flawlessly in stock form. Doesn't like my suppressor though, tends to hang up when I have that on it.

I have a SA 1911 Professional model. I love it. I also have a Kimber and two Wilson Combat's. (I only add that for the sake of comparison). The Springfield is my favorite, here is why: The Springfield uses a 20 lines per inch checkering on the front and back strap. IMO this really locks the weapon into your hand. They all have a 3-dot sight system. The Springfield is dead on, the round goes where the front sight is. The Wilsons use a 6 o'clock sight, meaning you have to aim just below what you want to hit. The only thing I don't like about my Springfield is there are no front slide serations, next time I will add that to my order. Good pistol, no malfunctions in just over 7,000 rounds.

Have the XDM 40 cal 5" barrel great gun love the ballistics of the . 40 and the wife can shoot it too.

Springfield Armory 1911A1 Loaded Stainless with a 5" barrell. I have had the pistol 7 years and had zero FTF (fail to fire) or FTE (fail to eject). If you are looking for a 1911 the SA Mil-Spec can be had for +/-$500. One of the better deals around today. Ed B

I have both a XD Tactical . 45 and Springfield 1911 TRP. Both are excellent firearms, accurate and reliable. I slightly favor the TRP only because I'm used to that style trigger with very little take up and over travel.
