Well ... at least that is what one of the Foss brothers told me today at Foss Motors in Exeter NH.

Nothing better to do today but stop by and see what was available ... nothing as usual (Exeter NH got hit hard with a giant hail storm a few months ago. Foss Motors lost their entire inventory ... some 250+ vehicles and are now just getting in new stuff).

For fun, I priced out a 3500 4X4 quad ST CC. Talking with the sales guy about payload and towing strength, I kind of grimissed about the low 6000+ lb. payload and asked if there was any news on the 4500/5500. He took me to one of the owners and we spoke and I told him I like the new 3500 CC, but a 4500/5500 would be better for keeping a nice "safty cushion" when hauling and towing. He said that the 4500/5500 would be introduced next Fall.

Well, as you might expect I perked up and said I was glad to hear someone actually admit Dodge was going to make them.

Also, he said that they have 5 of the 3500 CC on order and coming in, in the next few weeks. One of which would be a 6-speed manual and they said they would call me to let me know.

I would like to take one for a test drive, but was still sceptical about the new 6. 7L with the emissions stuff ... but as usual he said not to worry about that since Cummins knows there stuff.

Oh, and it was interesting to see the new Asisn 6 speed auto (for you lazy people), has a 3 yr. 180,000 mile warranty. I guess they must have a lot of faith in that new transmission.

So I guess the other thread about the 4500/5500 not being on the special Employee discount program is true.

We'll see. ;)

I try not to put too much faith in what dealers say. Its amazing when you play dumb just how much wrong information can come out of some of their mouths. I hope you're right, but untill I see something more official, I'll still be pricing out fords  Only 3 years on the auto transmission? Most of us don't put 60,000miles a year on a truck, 20-30 is more of the norm. Shoot, they could make it 3 years and 400,000miles and still be relatively safe from mass warranty work. Up here its 5 years and 160Kms I think.

I believe that the 3/180000 warranty is based on commercial use. If a contractor, delivery company, etc... . are using these new trucks with the new autos, then a 1,000+ miles a week is not unrealistic.

Also, it wasn't just a salesman who told me about the 4500/5500, it was one of the owners ... one of the people who go to the big DC shindigs and gets info on upcomming products. I'd put his info on a higher step than a regular salesman. We'll see.....

If the 3 yr. , 180,000 is correct, it makes me happy. I run close to 100,000 miles a yr and have a cab and chassis ordered and was told it would be here towards the end of this week or the first of the next.

huh, up here, and if my salesman was correct, we have a 5 year warranty irregardless of application. I'm not sure I'd be as interested in a new truck, expecially a new platform, if they were to drop the warranty from 5 to 3 up here.

FATCAT, I agree, if the owner said so about the new trucks, then hopefully it will be so.
