A question on the C&C trucks

Any word yet on whether or not this will happen?

If there's no "official" word, what do you theorists think? Will DC put one out?

This is the truck that I really want. A C&C long bed 4500 Mega Cab so I can put a western hauler bed on it. This is the hauling truck that I dream about :)

In all the statements on the press release I read one or two lines that said in a nutshell that the Mega Cab would not be available at this time in the 4500 and 5500..... If there was enough demand it might be offered later... .

And as I remember the long wheel base is not available in a quad cab.....

What does a real crew cab look like. Is the Mega cab too big? Is the Quad cab too small? Should they combine the two and only have the hybrid cab and the regular cab.

A REAL CREW Cab? Ford makes a nice one, Chevrolet makes one, even Dodge use so make one in the 70s. Dodge even makes one to now in the Dakota.

Why yes for me the Mega cab is to big, and my quad cab is to small. Thank you for asking. :)

I'd be shocked if you see it before the next body change (~2010), if then. It was very obvious that there was little to no consideration to the private owner when it comes to the 4500 & 5500 at the intro and in my interviews. They see these trucks as going to commercial operators only and they don't feel there is a market there at this time for it.

That Picture is my desk top back ground. If Dodge would build that or a REAL CREW CAB, I would be ordering one right now from Dave Smith motors. :) My wife wants one more than I do. :D

I do not understand, a mega cab with an 8ft bed is only 2 inches longer than the ford crew cab with and 8 ft bed? If that is the case give me a mega cab.

Strange to me that the marketing mavens at DC don't think there's a market for a tow vehicle for heavy 5th wheel RVs or the "horsey set's" triple slant living quarters with tack room trailers.

Give me one of those trucks on a 4500 chassis with 26K GCWR and you've got a sale!

I think that DC has their blinders on... . ford is doing to continue to dominate that segment due to their ignorance and I think that it is going to hurt them in the long run. DC is already shutting down plants and axing shifts, if I were them I would try and sell the C&C to any and every market that I could. Its not like they don't have the ability or the parts, they just don't seem to care. Just my . 02 cents.

Well, before we start dreaming of a Megacab 4500/5500 we all need to wait and see if the 4500/5500 will be build at all ... or for that matter ANY Dodge truck in the near future.

If Chrysler is sold or spun off to die a slow death I have to believe that truck will die off as well.

If GM or Ford is the purchaser, the Dodge truck as we see them today will be gone.

If one of the big Japaneese companies buys them, then the Dodge truck might survive.

In either case, this whole "Chrysler is up for sale" think should make people hesitent to purchase ANY Chrysler product for fear it won't be arould much longer and there will be no parts or service available for the cars/trucks.

Well, that's not really the topic of this thread, but I'd be more concerned about GM or Ford folding since they're losing far more money than the Chrysler Group and don't have a profitable parent like DC to keep them going. I seriously doubt that anyone is going to buy Chrysler Group with the intention of shutting it down - that's a poor use of capital.

Since I have no control over Chrysler Group's potential sale or IPO or its product planning, there's not much sense in my worrying over that.
