In another LP related thread, I asked if the 4601 and similar Carter fuel pumps used the same bypass design as does the one on our trucks - one of our members had a failed one available for disassembly, did so, and found that these other Carters apparently also recirculate whatever fuel they're pumping thru the motor itself...
This was interesting to me, because I thought that if they did NOT recirculate fuel in that manner, they might eliminate the small added contamination due to motor/brush wear particles they shed in normal operation - I guess that shoots down THAT theory...
