Ok trans guys...
I recently had a goerend valve body made and installed in my transmission. For some reason the guy went against the directions of installing the secondary servo spring that comes with the kit saying it would cause a harsh shift. Not knowing myself and not having the availability to contact tech support at goerend at the time (this was over the weekend) I went along but still argued it was against the directions.
With the spring not installed there is a slight "overlap" in 2nd gear. When I got back home I contacted goerend and sure enough this spring was supposed to be installed hence the overlap in 2nd gear.
I had driven 3.75 hrs (each way) to go to the shop who installed the goerend valve body kit amongst my hectic schedule.
Now I am trying to find a local trans shop (again, been to 3 botched shops over a year) to install this spring.
Fast forward to today... through word of mouth a shop was referred. I contact them and explain the situation. Their argument is the transmission MUST be removed to install this secondary spring in the servo.
My understanding is it can be installed without removing the transmission but can be tricky due to the front band and lever that must be out of the way.
So my question is if it can be done what is the trick to install it without removing the trans and preventing the potential issue of the lever falling out and band coming loose?
P.S. I did call goerend for assisting in this question and am waiting a return call.
