1943 Dodge Carryall/Cummins 4BTA

Cummins 4BTA Emergency Shutdown

Has anyone accomplished such a task?

I have one ready to go in & I'm hoping someone here has done it & can enlighten me as to what electronic nightmares I have in store for me:confused:

There is a fellow I've heard about that has done it so I know it's possible, I just don't know what was involved to make it happen.

Is it possible to make this transmission shift without modern gauges etc?

I believe ATS has done a few of those if my memory serves me right. You might call them.

But the general rule is you can do ANYTHING... all it takes is Time & Money! Sorry I can't be of more help in this, but call Clint. I was talking to him last summer and asked if they did the 1st Gen trucks and they do, but since I don't have one I didn't really remember what they were doing to them.

I'll try giving him a call... thanks for your help.

You know, as soon as you go to do something different you always get these guys telling you why it can't be done(in their opinion) & 9 times out of 10 it's because it's easier to do it another way... not necessarily better... just easier.

You are correct... anything is possible & I intend to do this even if it requires hiding gauges or tricking sensors.

When I figure it out I will post what is entailed to do this.

Good luck Marty! I too have done many things the so-called "experts" said couldn't and shouldn't be done, and if done would be dangerous, expensive and fall apart! Ha! Screw the experts. If a guy wants to do something DO IT! I've learned SO MUCH from doing the impossible with not much money but lots of desire, enthusiasm and guts.

Would you consider a 46RH, the non-computer controlled trans used in 94 and 95, just use a manual shift valve body and push pull switch for the overdrive and torque converter lockup with safety lockout. . ?
