Help!

My transmission is behaving strangely. When I come to a stop, and then start moving again, the transmission is already in 2nd (or maybe 3rd?). I have to then manually downshift into 1st. It doesn't happen consistently. Any ideas? I'm trying to figure out if its serious or not.

Thanks

Dave

Limp mode, cycle the key and see if it goes away for a bit! If it does or doesn't happen again, it's time to start trouble shooting..... don't drive it hard like this or you will smoke it, too tall of a gear. Remember the good ole' days when Kondalay would walk you through it on the net... . another story.

thanks for the replies, guys.

It does go away on its own. Its not doing it today, for instance. This is the second time it has done this. Maybe shutting down resets something. I am in the process of considering trading the truck in on an '03 and how serious this issue is may affect my decision. Obviously I don't want to start asking the dealer to check it out at this point.

Jim, Yeah I remember the days! I don't let the truck take off in 2nd, I feel it right away and manually shift into 1st.

Cheers

Dave
