Anyone else have an '03 with the 47RE that won't go into OD? I drove home from Harrisburg on Thursday, everything worked fine. Left for work on Friday, darn thing will not shift into OD, no matter how fast I go, or if I let off the throttle. Took it to the dealer (of course), tech worked on it for quite some time. They believe it is corrosion on the wiring harness from transmission to PCM. They have to order the harness (of course) and told me at least a week until I get the truck back. (I did get a '04 Jeep Liberty as a loaner YEEE HAWW!) Anyone shed some light on this or calm my concerns that the dealer is going in the right direction? Anyone guess why it would take a week to get a part and install it? Hmmmm.....

I experienced the same thing. Would not shift into OD the cruise would not work. Took it to the dealer and they tried to reflash the pcm doing this they fried mine. They said it would be a week to get new one I told them I seen a truck on the lot same trans as mine (47RE) I said I was sure it was the same and made them take the one off the new truck so I wouldn't have to go without truck. (As this is why they had to buy back my 03 2500 Hemi they had it in the shop for 26 days off and on to fix heater door, used the lemon law to my favor and finally purchased the CTD I should have purchased to begin with. ) There are more threads on this problem to if you want to do a search. Hope this helps.

Water in the wiring harness isn't unheard of with the '03. Something about the way the PCM is mounted allows water to get in the plug. Mine was that way new. The mechanic found it during the PDI. Got a new PCM and wiring harness before delivery. It looks factory and has worked for over 15k miles. :)

All the posts I searched for mentions the dreaded no OD until 70mph or until the throttle is lifted. Mine won't go into OD period. The dealer said there is a lot of TSB's about corrosion in the harness for everything but the CTD's. I knew I should have bought a six-speed.....

Heard that mine absolutely will not go into od until ya let off the go pedal, kinda fun sometimes till the inlaws get in for a ride and wonder why you were ever givin a drivers licence (lol)

Isn't it a dang shame that dodge could let themselfves get so far behind in the trasnmission department? What a hunk on shi*, Everyone else has new autos, with 5-speeds made for trucks, we have a out dated 70' technology trany, with a crapy torque converter. Good thing they have cummins, but if things don't change, I can't see to meany people buying a overpriced , out dated truck just for a cummins.

Overpriced? Have you priced a GM D/A?

Junk? Have you checked out The Dieselstop forums?

Get real. I haven't had any transmission troubles out of any of the Mopars I've owned over the years.

What makes a 5spd auto better?
