When it's cold or sets overnight,it goes into gear fine but when you go about 30 or so feet it quits moving-no forward or reverse if you wait about 30-40 seconds it goes into gear and is fine the rest of the day. it has a sun coast valve body and converter w/about 60,000 miles. thanks for any info.

Check the fliud level. Get it too the top of the hash marks.

and run it in neutral for that couple minutes you let it warm up before taking off to fill the converter, sounds like your converter is drained from sitting overnight.

Ditto on the two previous posters.

BSouders, has the check ball been removed from the cooling line?

If mine sits for 3 days or I park it facing uphill it takes 7 seconds to gain pressure. With no check ball I always give it 30 seconds to get lubed up before placing it in drive when the the weather is warm and wait much longer when the temps drop.

Man it's cold outside. Brrrrrr

It is full &the check has been removed. i have had this truck for 3 years & it just started doing it this winter. what doesn't get lubed if not in neutral?thanks for your info. i have a rebuilt transmission i did w/a a. t. s over-haul kit & a full lock up valve body i'm going to put in this spring. since this trans shifts properly,do you think the throttle valve cable would need adjusted for the new trans?

BSouders, please look under discussion forums and click on user control panel. Then proceed to fill out you truck signature. How much horse power and torque are you set up for? What are the temps when this is going on? How many miles do you have on your transmission fluid and how many miles between fluid changes? I would try a power flush or at least a filter and fluid change as it sounds like a fluid restriction problem.

The t. v. cable will affect shift points. You don't want it too tight. Been there done that and it down shifted from OD to 2nd at 65 mph. Set it to where it shifts right before the engine governor is about to defuel. You will know if it is too tight.
