I just need a little advice and information on where to take and what brand of transmission would be best suited for my mothers driving needs. My mother has a 99 2500 2X4 with a 47re. The truck has 150,000 on the odometer and is completely stock. The transmission seems to be slipping and is not shifting properly. The last time that I changed the transmission filter and oil there was more than normal metal shavings on the magnet in the pan. The truck is used for a daily driver and was the primary truck used to pull the 9000lbs horse trailer to rodeos until my dad purchased his 05 with the 48re. The truck is still used to pull the trailer to rodeos that are close to the house or when my father can not go. I would like to add a set of gauges and an edge ez in the near future to help bring it closer to the 05. This is where the member s of TDR come in I need some help in making a decision to either upgrade the TC and transmission or to stay with the stock components? And if I decide to upgrade can you give me some reputable shops preferable in the Waco or Austin, Texas area. I would not even mind taking it to Dallas. Can you also give me some advice on which brands of TC and transmissions that you would best be suited for this truck? My knowledge of automatic transmissions does not go much beyond being able to change the filter and fluid. Please I do not want to start a transmission war just need some advise from members that much more knowledgeable than I. I have been reading previous threads for several hours and it could take days to get through all of them. Sorry for the long past and thanks in advance for any info.

I have the suncoast triple disk and VB, it works great but I have the comp and sticks also. Maybe just upgrading the stock to suncoast or dtt single disk with VB?? Some stock trannys seem to hold an EZ pretty good and some dont. My . 02
