I'm getting ready to do a fluid/filter change on my 03 47RE with 160k miles. I've put just over 15k on it in the 2-1/2 yrs I've owned it and dont have any idea of its maintenance history.

Plan to adjust the bands while I'm down there. Is there anything specific I should look for or do while the pan's off?

Would a valve body/shift kit be something to consider?

Anything else that I'm missing?

As long as you're happy with the shifting behavior of the trans now I wouldn't worry about any valve body modifications. If you want firmer shifts and fluid flow in park then you'll need some valve body modifications.

Otherwise I'd say change fluid and filters, adjust the bands and call it done.

Not sure I want/need anything... she does occasionally wind out between 4th & OD and doesn't always kick down without letting off the throttle and getting back on it. Other than that she feels and drives fine.

I just figured while it's open if there's anything worthwhile doing, I might as well do it.

If you want to spend a few bucks while the pan is off, change the pressure transducer and governor solenoid. Probably money well spent while the pan is off to save you trouble down the road.

Those two parts never made it past the 100k mark on my 47RE or 48RE, there's a chance they've already been replaced. Just a thought.
