Any idea where this washer/spacer goes?

I found in the old fluid which I failed to check before I put it all back together. I usually drain it back to a second container.

I checked the manual and it does not look like it's supposed to come out when you change the filter. I did not notice it fall out it could have been in the pan already when I started.

I'm going to drop the pan on Sunday and see what's up.

I've done a ton of work on my truck in the last 13 months just nearing the end. I've made it this far without having to post anything.

There is always one more thing.

Between TechAuthority, Quick Serve, and TDR there is pretty much always been something out there already.

The manual has 134 pages on the 46/47RE, been thru it every page 3 times and don't see anything in there. Maybe it is from something else I have rebuilt and was sitting on the frame rail or something really odd like that.

The ID is almost exactly to the ID of the filter hole that goes towards to valve body, so was hoping for a real quick answer on this one.

I had to pick up a new filter so did not get to do this Sunday. Local place did not have one and I did not trust dropping the pan with out one at least on hand they are $12 at the dealer.

Then tonight in the process I tweaked the brass fitting on the return line. Looks like someone had some issues with this in the past as the coupler is all chewed up.

It came out clean with a easyout.

I have a fitting that is close and will need to get some parts tomorrow to plumb this up.

I tried to find the fittings for the cooler on the side of the block once and they were almost impossible to match up.

Unless someone knows if this is available. I will research of course in the manual later when I'm done tonight.

There is a slight compression pattern on the old filter that matches the newly removed filter.

That pattern is not the same OD of this washer spacer thing.

The ID of the spacer is around .750, which is smaller then the metal hole inside the brand new mopar filter, I think is around .765, only have a old school mitutoyo caliber that you have to align the lines up and add them to the last increment. But for sure the ID is smaller for the washer vs the filter.

Then I don't think just the two offset screws would hold this thing in place.

Not going to risk putting this thing in there unless someone knows this came out of here. It's not in the dodge manual to be between the filter and valve body.

But pic is attached showing it placed on top of the filter showing the holes are very similar.

I did rebuild the vacuum pump so and had the power steering pump off of that. Will have to go back to those instructions and see if this looks like part of that. I don't have any leaks from there and have great vacuum so that is not presently giving me any issues.

Those are standard pipe thread fittings, looks like 3/8" pipe and coupling and the copper tubing fittings are standard also. (I believe the 99 was the first year with all metric fasteners.) The tubing looks like 3/8" pipe thread to 1/2" tubing. I'm guessing this piece screws into the transmission? Should be fine, just don't use copper tubing for the line as vibration will cause it to fail over time. As for the washer, if it was part of the transmission it was on a shaft and if you haven't had any of the transmission apart I wouldn't worry about it. Just my .02 cents worth. bg

Yeah I drove it with that out and shifted fine. It's got 205k on it and had tons of debris and metal in the pan. So it's on its way out with or with out this spacer thing at some point.

Who knows when it was serviced. Filter I took out says Made in USA that's it, new mopar is made in China, so my guess is been a while since this filter has been out.

Thanks.

Standard brass parts worked well.

Installed pic is after a few mile ride shifts alright no issues.

So no leaks or drips either.

As far as the other washer part, in the tool box it goes till next go round.

Unrelated got my Genos cup holder today and tried that out already I think that was one of my best purchases yet.

Thanks, better off finding the weak parts now. Will have to post some of the other stuff I have done at some point. I have learned a lot from TDR.
