I have a 2000 4x4 quadcab shortbed. Any suggestions on parts needed and how difficult it is... any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing the work myself. Truck is also making apprx. 500hp... . thanks
I know a guy who has a completely rebuilt transmission that already has the upgraded nut for $1500 cash/ no core. I think he has the slave cylinder too, but it is still gonna cost you another $1000 for a clutch to hold 500hp. Then you need a pedal assembly, crossmember & transfer case. You are looking at about a $4000 conversion.
Call John Kunsak @724-935-5613 for the transmission & he may also have most of the parts for this conversion. You can change the input to t-case as stated. The clutch depends on what you want to do with the truck. Let us know.
OFE? What is Fe or DD? lost me on that... sorry I'm new to the diesel mods.
The truck is a daily driver, I love to have fun with it on the street (give the p-strokes and duraturds some smoke. . lol) I tow mabe once a month 5-6000 lbs tractor... thats it really. Thanks
SouthBend Clutch designations. Check out their webiste. THe OFE has an organic on one side and an Iron face on the other. Great driving clutch. THe FE has iron on both sides kinda grabby, but will hold good power. The DD is a double disk. Hold lots of power, but not as fast to shift and most of them have solid centers which make noise and what not. South Bend has a new DD coming out. If you get a DD I would wait for it.
I have the number for a guy who is parting out a 2002 4x4 with 6 speed with aroung 70K miles. he has everything pedal assy. , transmission, bellhousing, stock clutch, etc. Very nice guy whom I've already bought a handful of small things from. you can email me or you can do a search in the classifieds for steve robbins as he has the engine for sale there.
here's the guy's number I was refering to in the previous thread.
steve robbins 859-472-1156. He's in Northern KY. I don't know if that's close to you as you haven't filled out your profile, but he should have everything except the upgraded clutch.
