I have an 03 with a 47re and am planing on getting the Edge attitude when it comes out. (if it hasnt already). Ive read alot of posts saying that the 47re will not handle any more power than stock, but I have not seen what you need to do to your transmission to accommodate the extra HP of the aftermarket boxes. Any suggestions or advice would be great. Thanks:cool:

Simple advice for the long run... ... ... ... . call Dave Goerend, ATS and DTT and decide for yourself which way to go. It is not as important exacty which vendor you go to as it is to not continue with the stock transmission any longer than you have to. With stock power, the auto (stock) is marginal at best; but with any power increase, you really should upgrade. Prior to installing the ATS converter and valve body, I "babied" my stock auto along for the better part of a year - the major problem being a slipping lockup clutch at times. It is a big investment, but to me the peace of mind knowing the transmission is up to the task is worth it, to say nothing of the HUGE driving improvement. I am self employed and don't get much time off except on weekends... ... ... ... the last thing I want is to be broken down on the side of the road at a time that is supposed to be relaxing. Good luck with your choice.

Re: cost of upgrade, again probably best to get that "straight from the horses mouth" so to speak. Ask each vendor when you have them on the phone. I think I have about 1600. 00 or so including installation. I had the converter and valve body installed by a local transmission shop who had no prior experience with ATS, but it went very well. I considered doing it myself but after talking with the people at the transmission shop they convinced me having a strong enough hoist (some don't do too well with a 1 ton dually) and the proper tools makes a big difference.

Crimefighter, depending on how much H. P. your box will be making, you may be able to get by with just a TC and VB. But I would ask when I called.

My truck had 107,000 miles on the odom, when I went with a complete Stage IV rebuild. I paid about $3,600 for it 2 years ago. But the TC and other beefed up parts will outlast this rebuild, so when I get it rebuilt the next time, I will probably only need a regular rebuild. The TripleLok TC, which is the most expensive part of the job should last hundreds of thousands of miles.
