I'm new to the whole diesel thing and I've bought an 02 4wd 3/4 ton and so far i've put full 5 inch exhaust, intake, and a power puck and my transmission seems to be already struggling to keep up with the power. I've purchased a valve body kit and was told by someone that I should do a rebuild on the trans, before i put in the shift kit since it has 95,000 miles on it. I plan on taking out the power puck and putting in a edge comp but dont want to do so until I know it wont eat the trans up. With the edge in it I also plan on putting a torque lock up switch in it.

If you have 95,000 on it, you should replace the input shaft/hub also. Good chances that it already has hairline cracks in it.

thanks I've been thinking about what I should do because I've purchased a warrenty deal at the dealership where i bought the truck and it covers the trans ive already had to use it once on the valve body, its already slipping so i might just let it blow and let them replace the trans and then start my upgrades on a new trans

Go blow the input shaft on it, buy a billet one, and the convertor and the VB. Then see if you can get them to replace the parts in the transmission when they are rebuilding it. Hopefully they will not just replace the shaft without rebuilding it. I would try to go break the input shaft, or get something that requires a rebuild, and hand them the parts you want put in it.

Thanx thats what i was thinking too, i think im going to make some calls to some trans shops before hand and see if they'll do that

did a budget upgrade with a shift kit and a low stall torque converter. Much better than stock, but I am not going over 250hp. It is my dads truck and he didn't want to spend more on the rebuild.
