47RE's and Jake Brakes

It is my understanding that exhaust brakes are not approved by

Mopar with automatic transmissions.



However... I have been reading that Jacobs/Cummins are close

to offering an exhaust brake for the 48RE.



Since the 48RE is a "beefed up" 47RE is there any chance that

this new product would be approved for the 47RE?



It does make sense from a marketing/sales standpoint, as the potential market is bigger.

47re & exhaust brake?

The short answer to your question is no. I believe in '98 they did this, and re-called and purchased them back. The 47re is not set up for E-Brake from factory. The 48re could be. That is one of the benefits of an aftermarket transmission.
