I'm having my transmission serviced and the bands adjusted on Monday. Is there anything specific I should have them look for or make sure that they do?

I've got 235,000 miles on the truck. I do not know whether the transmission has been replaced or overhauled. I suspect something has been done, because the woman I bought it from (it belonged to her father) said that her father had taken it in for transmission problems several times. It was used to tow a 5th wheel.

I wish I had money for one of those fancy $4000 built transmissions.

Well, congrats on getting to 235,000 miles! :)

I can relate to the problem of coming up with the 4 grand. But look at it this way... you are gonna get WAY more miles out of your truck than if you had a gasser. And at SOME point all transmissions need to be rebuilt. Therefore it's better to get it rebuilt by somebody who will do it RIGHT and have it last longer, than otherwise.

Then too, there is a chance the previous owner bellied up to the bar and already had it rebuilt! Is there anyway you can find out? 235,000 on a stock transmission without ever getting rebuilt is amazing. Maybe you ALREADY have a $4,000 trans and don't know it! Stranger things have happened.
