title post should read 47re valve body swap with 48re, my understanding of this swap results in better/firmer shifts, any thoughts?

Don't mess around with swapping, just add a shift kit to the existing one. Given the same pressures you won't see better shifts. If anything the 48RE has more NVH crap in it to overcome.
