48 re question, on $31,000 dealer truck

This post in conjunction with my others in the non engine/trans forum $31,000 dealer truck. Looked it over tonight in the dark with a flashlight, and found slight dampness on the drivers side of the trans, where there are electrical connectors, and what looks like a heavy cable that leads to the front of the truck. There is flare nut fitting is this area that comes out and goes back into the trans further back, on the same side. Is this a concern, or problem area? Wetness does not appear to be coming from the flare nut fitting. Otherwise, the trans and engine for that matter are dry.

I think it's kinda like buying a used volkswagen as you would need to always put in a rebuilt motor . Plan on a rebuilt trans and new injectors. How many miles on the truck? What year?

Range sensor, VB harness, and shifter shaft seal are all possible areas for seeping. Usually it just means the source has passed its replacement time. No way t tell if there is functionally or physically wrong with the transmission by looking at that.

My truck with 99k has some very slight wetness on the bottom trans, but nothing major. The hard part is that you don't know if that took thousands of miles to accumulate or if its actually leaking quick. If possible, Id suggest getting them to degrease and pressure wash it off so its clean, then take it for a good long test drive. After that, check again for any leaks. Since most of these trucks have over 100k, I think a some small weeping leaks here and there from the trans are acceptable if its the original unit.
