My friend and I just rebuilt my 2005 48RE transmission and I find myself in a unfamiliar territory. First thing that happened was trans was slipping really bad in 1st gear auto and manual. everything else worked great. so why trying to find a fix for this problem I took the truck for a test drive to answer questions from Goerend Transmissions. They ask ?
#1 Is trans shifting 4 Times ? I tried in auto & man. Did Not slip any in auto or man.
#2 In manual 1st move shifter to 2nd Does it shift? Shifted with no problems.
#3 Power Brake. Did it slip. No not at all
During this time I called my friend and told him transmission was working great I only drove it forward. So he gets there and drives it and as soon as he puts it in Reverse,
bingo no reverse. Further testing found no neutral. when in neutral truck goes forward. Park works. I called Goerend back and they told be to put gauge on accumulator and check pressure at idle and full acceleration. I have not done this yet. in the mean time has anyone had anything like this happen?
I found an article on cummings forum that said clearance on rear clutch is to tight. therefore it is not engaged when in neutral, park, reverse.
I checked this and it was .025 which is within tolerance.
Any help would be appreciated.
