Cummins sled puller w/gas RPM's?

VW bug fuel line insulation

Only time it left me stranded was when I REALLY over revved it missing a gear and the oil pump shaft broke. Thankfully that same shaft spins the dist so it coasted to a stop.

Actually the distributor, powered by the cam turns the oil pump. I have had the dist. gear drive pin break several times over the years, that will shut down the fire. The 429/460 is still the power leader for Ford. In 1968, Ford offered (3) 7 liter engines, the 427, 428 and 429. I would love to have a Boss 429.

My Rigby, Idaho pull this year.

Nick,

HERE ya go! Just bring your money gun and start shooting....

Yes, John Kaase is the man for Ford power. One of the pullers from Montana just installed one, 3rd and 4th hand info is, 1000+ hp and $30k. If I don't see him in Colorado Springs this weekend I will for sure see him in Powell, Wyoming the end of this month. In the Super Stock/Pro Stock class, this is too much power, based on the rules, they can't get the chassis to get the power to the ground. They get a long face when a 600 hp truck out pulls them, lol. 1000 hp is Pro Mod power with chassis mods to match.

With my 400 hp truck, I can only watch:)

Having been a Blue Oval guy in my youth, as much as I'd love to build a street car around one of Kaase's Boss engines, there's just something about paying more for an engine than I did for either of our first two houses that I struggle with.

Sounds good! One of the REAL trucks of the day! Love those old high riders. Pre 75! Looks like a 74 F250 pulling. I almost got one in 74, wouldn't fit in the garage, so I settled on the Bronco. There are a few nice shot of my friends 74 F-250 in various positions in this flick. We were in snow on a crowned logging road a snow machine compacted 3-4 feet of snow on and off the center top crown. Hard driving being up on step then you wind up being delivered to the ditch. Then the Green Jeeps began.

There is a guy in cutbank mt that has a garage full of these engines. When I lived there he told me if I ever built a cobra he would sell me a 428 side oiler. Can't remember his last name but i can try to find him again if you want.

That might be a good person to know, I get to Montana at least once a year. If I keep running this one like I am, sooner or later I will blow it up and need a block. I also really don't want to give up the FE series, it's a factory fit for the old truck.

It was built in 8 of '75 so it is almost a '76. I bought it from a school teacher when it was 10 years old and promptly blew the 360 lol. I have had 428's in it every since. Thanks for the old video, nice country!

As always Nick great stuff and a first place! Watching your videos and hearing that "old technology" engine at FULL SONG and the participation and encouragement from your cheering section is always a great kick to getting my day started. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Nick, good to see you're having a good year. Your concern about hurting the mill- How often do you tear down for inspection? Those are some nice venues out there! this is the closest I can come to in a 200 mi radius.

Wayne, my pulls are all 600+ miles from here (one way) so all my time is spent on my tow truck and trailer:) My pulling truck only gets new oil and spark plugs per season, at 20 seconds per pull and about 16 pulls per year it just gets run!

You think this sled don't pull hard? All new fresh break in the weld. I now use a one piece forged draw bar. Since this video was taped by my competition I think I need to look in her purse for a hacksaw, she was sure focused on the hitch for some reason:-laf

My God, I just love the sound of that motor more every time you post a new video.......that runs some kind of pure!!!

I believe that it is the best sounding gasser that I have ever heard pull. Usually they pop, gag, snarf, start to break down, or something during the pull. Yours just plain runs. Incredible.

Thanks Mike and Grant,

Here is my Saturday pull, 1st place @ 310' The sled had a little more weight on it than it did on Friday so we all pulled about 15' less. The truck still sounds the same tho @ 6000 rpm. Notice at the start the track was rough, the truck wanted to bounce so I had to get out of it some but it still pulled the rpm's back up.
