My Problem:48RE 2nd gear slips with moderate or hard throttle. Background 2003 Dodge 3500 4x4, 127K miles. 700 miles fluid change and deep pan put on with temp gauge. 60k transmission rebuilt with Updated torque converter and external filter also. Fluid change at 2013 98k miles, 2015 114k miles. Only towed about 12 times in its life, 3x were half way across US with 10k lbs. So not highly abused. I did get on it when it originally started slipping. Just changed fluid with AMSOIL and adjusted front and rear bands with no change. Could a Governor Pressure Solenoid/Sensor be a possible fix vice full rebuild? Any help appreciated.

Are you sure it is slipping in only 2nd? In manual 2nd you can feel it slip if you give it too much throttle?

If the front band adjustment feels any kind of off might have broke the band anchor on the band itself.

I tried it in manual yesterday in 2nd, and it slips, I will check the other gears also to see if slipping but did not notice it before. will check again.

I think I will take a look at the band and have the parts ready to replace it if needed and heavy duty kick down band strut, the more i read and watch the more I learn, don't want to mess it up any more, did drive again it still slips only in second.

If that is the only gear it will slip in then it is a pretty good bet something has gone wrong with the band. I have had good luck with the red lined slip in bands. They seem to be heavier and better built than even some of the new HD flex bands. A regular band you cannot replace in the truck, you have to drop the trans and disassemble.

Yah, I did find this not sure if Im up to doing it still debating it. You can replace front band in the truck but,,,
