My dad has an 06 with a 48RE and a PacBrake. Are there any mods that will allow the brake to work in 1st gear? I figured this question has been discussed at length but if it has I must be using the wrong search criteria. I can't find anything on it.

Thanks

The control of the exhaust brake on the automatic is controlled by the ECM of the Engine and the Transmission... this is software programing from the factory...

What happens is that when the ECM's see road speed and rpm ranges below set limits the fluid pressure drops in the torque converter and the brake shuts off...

I'm guessing he's below the threshold based on engine speed (RPM) as well as road speed... Its a shame because we understand the need when your off road to use low gear and the exhaust brake...

It would be nice if the guys at Chrysler/Cummins would listen... on class 8 trucks it common to see log trucks low speeds, in low gears going down hill with the engine brake on...

Just about anyone that Knows VBs can modded it correctly and can write the correct software for the TV motor your good to second gear ,I don't know any way possible for 1st 04 and earlier its easy to pull back the TV with a air device and modded the VB for 2nd gear lockup. On My 03 I have the PRXB with Banks SmartLock with the VB Dave Modded for 2nd Gear Lockup, Banks has the software and the device for 06 and up, I like the PRXB better that the Banks Brake. like Banks operations better than PAC. Mix and match best of both Companies... .
