48re and TIPM

Does the 48re electronics communicate with the TIPM, or just the ECM?

EX: Torque converter lockup, gear shifting, gear sensing...is it possible to have transmission glitches do to a bad TIPM?

The TIPM is BCM control for the most part, but, IIRC the 12V trans power supply relay is powered out of the TIPM. All controls should be thru the ECM but a dirty signal from the TIPM can cause problems.
