I have a little cash saved for some mods. While I am awaiting for the dealer to solve my Tow Haul mode problem, it got me to thinking that I should probably start thinking about beefing up my 48RE transmission before I go any further than my Edge Juice.

So I would love any suggestions on modifications to help my 48RE surive if I add more power. I really don't want to swap out the entire transmission until the day I have to. Meaning I want to get my money's worth out of the stock transmission with some mods.

So I am looking at mod'ing the transmission in this order:

1) Changing the transmission pan to a larger one

2) Installing a transmission Temp probe (not sure if I can rely on the stock on that I get through my Attitude monitor).

3) Buying and installing a better TC (ATS? Banks? Other?)

4) Next?

My transmission of choice is the HTS, they use Sun Coast converters which I have been running for 2 years no problem . Changing the converter and valve body will make a huge difference in performance. Dusty the owner of HTS has an 05 that he has only changed the converter and valve body and so far it is holding up pretty well. Changing the valve body puts more holding pressure on the clutchs and helps them to live. Give Dusty a call at 616-897-6237 or go to www.htstransmissions.com

I have had great luck with my Suncoast. Definetly do the Converter and Valvebody. The Converter will have more lockup ability and a better fluid coupling, and like posted the Valve Body will get teh pressures you need to teh clutches and the lock up clutch. Also, it will flow more fluid and will flow in P. The shifts are much faster and a bit firmer, without being intrusive.

When I build a transmsission here I use Suncoast parts. They are great. Also, NADP uses Suncoast parts in their replacement transmissions. They are my choice for drop ins.
