I have asked this before about a 48re shifting from first to third then back to second and then back to third and so on under lite throttle, it's like the darn thing can't make up it's mind about what gear to use . Anybody else run across this ? If so what was the fix or the reason or excuse for it? Also the other day I was driving on the farm, like usual it wanted to go into third gear wich was too fast for what I was doing so I pulled it into second gear and was running about 8-9 mph and it just went nuts! It started shifting up and down between first and second like a machine gun. Any ideas? I have no power adders and it is completely stock, the hardest thing I do with it is pull a 7000 lb TT. 21500 miles 05 4x4.

Since no reply's I'll take a stab. sounds like a shift solonoid(valve body) issue. Need a trans tech at a D. C. store to hook a DRB to it and do some checks.

mine was acting similier (sp) dodge stated it was the govener silinoid. had it repaired the truck drove well for about 3 days and started acting up again i carried it back they stated they could not reproduce. i change my transmission fluid at every oil change and that keeps it in check

Sounds like the problem that I had after my first heavy tow. DC transmission tech replaced two solenoids. Ok so far after 6 weeks.

Come to think of it, it does seem to be worse now. We just got back from Florida three weeks ago and it seems to be a bit worse now than before we left to go down there, it was a 1800 mile tow .

Took my truck to the D. C. Doctor today, took him for a short ride to go over the problems. He kept it and done some test and is oredering a , I hope I get this right, Automatic Transmission Accelorater Position Sencer. He thinks this may do the trick.

Well he changed that sensor and gave it back to me. He also did a milage and overhead computer flash to correct the mpg average . The truck now does the 1-2 "watussie" in drive along with being locked in second and doing it too. It shifts better at 3/8 to WOT than it did before but it is really a little worse at light throttle than it was before. He said he was going to contact "STARZ"? tomorrow to get some other ideas. He went ahead and ordered a govenor solenoid today to try it. I'm not jumping up and down mad just disappointed. $40,000 truck and a . 10 cent transmission. :(

Its STAR(Tech assitance) 48re has not given much trouble. In fact less warranty claims on it then the Ford Torqueshift or G. M. Allison. But it like everting else this day and age is controled by electronics and trying to figure out if a software issue or hard failure is not always simple.

My 06' Megacab has done this couple of times after towing. Could be the transducer. Had that problem on my 01' and changing it out fixed it.
