Can anyone clarify if there has been an actual part improvement to the 48RE govenor solenoid? I have read the TSB, my truck has had the 1-2 shift jumping problem since day one, dealer replaced the parts under the TSB, not once, but twice, before it went out of warranty. It hasn't fixed the issue. A friend was told by the dealer that there was a revised part that actually fixes the problem. I went into my local dealer, they have not heard anything, looked up the TSB, still dated 2007, and the part number is the same, no revision number. Their transmission expert says that the problem has been the same, with the same part number, since 2004. He also told me the parts sometimes last fine, sometimes fail repeatedly, no rime or reason he was aware of. He figures it is just the way some people drive the trucks.

Can someone shed some light on this?

My truck is a '06 3500 4x4 w/48RE auto trans (see sig below)

Yeah, there is a revised part that actually fixes the problem from PATC, Suncoast, and DTT. Its a 68RFE or GM solenoid.

AFAIK or have heard the same crappy solenoid is still the only OEM part available. If the solenoid is not functioning correctly the flashes will do nothing.

I have the one from DTT and it works pretty good so far. I got my transmission built by James Trans Tech and he put it in then. Prior to that I had several issues with the factory one.
