For years I've had to wiggle the transmission into park to get the "P" to light up. So I decided to fix it. After some research I stumbled upon this youtube video and decided to give it a whirl. You have to remove the valve body to replace this item. BD Diesel has some very good instructions with clear pictures of what things look like when your feeling around to disconnect the items you need to disconnect to remove the valve body. The only change i made is i pulled the parking pawl out versus remove the eclip. I highly recommend a creeper if you don't have one - should have bought one 20 years ago!.
While i was in there I added/replaced
DNJ-DCF1 - governor pressure solenoid kit with the newer "gold" transducer
48RE 2-3 Accum Piston Kit Sonnax
HD Borg & Gold Upgrade Kit 2000+
3-4 Accumulator Spring
Goerand Transmission pan - I broke the hex driver in my mag-hytec pan.
48RE Neutral Switch
Worn insulator followed by replacement, followed by instructions and part number. do cover your valve body when grinding the steel rivot off.
