The trans. in my truck one day decided to not work. Upon inspection the filter was clogged so I changed the fluid and it worked fine for about ten miles and then it didnt move at all so I removed the transmission and brought the converter to have it cut apart and checked out. I bought an extreme duty rebuild kit from suncoast and a rebuilt front pump from a local trans parts supplier due to dodge being on national back order until sometime in april. The converter shop said the bearing inside the converter let go and beatup the inside so he used my cover on a new converter and reworked the inside of that one. I rebuilt the trans and installed the rebuilt pump, now the trans still has no gears and I checked pressure at the accumulator port in neutral and there is no pressure. I took the transmission apart again and everything appears fine and the pump looks fine. With the trans in gear it would only rev to 2200 rpm but it would not load the motor like if it was engaging two gears at once but it will still rev to redline in neutral. Any suggestions of where to start looking would be greatly appreciated

I understand thats the easier way out but I figured with all the knowledgable people on this board that someon emight be able to give some suggestions on what to test or look for.

It didnt have pressure no matter what gear it was in. Anywhere else to check pressure besides the line?[/QUOTE

I would have to ask you if you have disassembled and cleaned you VB when you rebuilt the trans since you stated you had a clogged filter. You could have a stuck regulator valve or the valve is damaged. Are you sure you did not miss a seal or the sealing rings especially behind the front pump? It is hard to diagnose over the forum without the unit in front of me. Let me know

The cooler does have flow through it and I was told that if it was plugged it would cause a short life of the trans. and not cause the trans. to work at all.

Get a service manual. There are several ports on the transmission to see pressure at. 2200 is about the stock stall of a convertor. Did you put all new clutches in it? Nothing in reverse? Nothing in manual 1?

Yes I put all new clutches in it and it does nothing in any gear, it doesnt attempt to move at all and yes the transfer case was in gear.

in gear it will rev to 2200 correct? No load, I wander if that is the torque management preventing it from going higher in gear. Get a service manual so you can see what ports to get on.

Revving to 2200 is about right with the defuel point for in gear operation. The ECU limits fuel if it doesn't see any wheel speed.

Check your pressures at the front and rear servos, governor, etc, and see what they are. If you have fluid flow at all it sounds like it is just dumping back to the pan and not applying the the clutches. That could be a plug blown out of the VB or any number of things.
