48RE shift concerns

Two years ago I lost the 2nd band , direct drum, spread debris all through the trans and cooler. Pulled trans and overhauled it replacing the drum and using a billet 2nd band. I bought a sonnex valve body 47 re converted to work in a 06 48re I have no problems other than the 1-2 a slide and bump into second.( My combined weight with the 5th wheel 22.000 lbs so I know it don't slip ) I've ran these bands in my 69 RR and didn't feel this in the past.I talked to sonnex and they told me that all the holes in the separator plate are set to factory specs. I will hook up a gauge and set mainline to 80 - 85 psi and possibly change the tv valve spring to the yellow one in a transgo kit as I don't think I can change the separator plate because of the mods done by sonnex. Any Ideas I just want a firmer 2nd and 3rd shift when pulling the 5th wheel
