I wanted a little firmer shift, & my transmission guy who has built NUMEROUS bullitproof 727's says to turn up the line pressure & remove the Acumulator springs.

We did a similar mod to my 47re in my V10 & it was driven hard & ran like a top with 133k on the odometer when sold.

Anyone tried this??

Same tricks can be done, but it is more than just turn up the line pressure, by turning up the line pressure you can affect shift points which may not neccessarily be a bad thing. We took the spring out of the accumulator and the 1-2 shift feels like it is gonna blow the ujoint. I would either go with a stiffer spring or do it the correct way and restrict the hydrualics of the accumulator with a plug.

I would be careful on that accumulator spring removal. The factory accumulator is plastic and if you remove the spring it will eventually rub a hole out of the bottom of the accumulator and cost you 2nd gear. It will fry the band because of an internal leak... Although, the shifts will be nice and firm until the failure :-laf . DTT makes a spacer to take the place of the spring, along with a billet accumulator that will prevent this from happening. Just tryin to help ;)

pull your spring measure its size and make a spacer from the diminsions. I have done it with scrap parts from dc trannys (a piston). I do mine a lil differant than the one zstroken had . but very similar.

THere is a spring on I think the low/reverse piston that is much stiffer. I thought about using it. It would definately firm up the shift.
