48RE shifting problems

Fellas, My 2005 48RE wont down shift to first gear. I take off in second gear than the transmission downshifts to first. Usually I,m rolling alown around 15MPH before it downshifts. Any Ideas.

You transmission will not shift into first at a stop?

You take off in second, reach about 15MPH and then it drops to first?

How many miles do you have on the transmission?

You might need to adjust the bands. Its not a hard job, just takes some attention to detail.

from the description of the problem you *may* have a solenoid going bad in the valve body. Good news is its ~75 bucks and easy to replace.

If the transmission is starting in second, something is applying the intermediate band. First gear is always engaged when the forward clutch is engaged, it simply overruns when in second or high. Perhaps you have a valve body fault causing this problem. Don't go to the bank yet, just a suggestion.
