My 03 2500 is no longer shifting correctly. From a stop, RPMs increase dramatically before shifting without corresponding increase in speed . I have to be very careful to ovoid over-reving. Sometimes the 48re shifts first, then overrevs. Parking gear will not hold the truck on even a slight incline. Heading to the dealer tomorrow but am looking for some guidance tonight. Thanks.

Can't help you, but good luck at the dealer. You don't have in truck stats or signature line: Any HP mods?

Welcome aboard Austin! I would suspect you have some internal transmission damage. Possibly a bad torque converter. Don't know what to tell you about it not holding the truck in park.

Sounds like something might be loose, bent or broken on the shift linkage. See if the truck will start in any position other than park and neutral? If so, the linkage may be the problem. bg

Ive got a 4x4 block you can use. Just slip her under the tire same as park. Just make sure you puther on the front side of the tire when parkin' downhill!

Only when cold

Mine does what you have described only when cold first thing in the morning. If it sits there for a few min - no problem. If I try to leave immediately, even slowly, it takes about 5 seconds for the torque converter to realize that somebody's at the door.

Not too concerned. When she blows - I'll put a real transmission under there.
