I was told about 3 weeks ago by my dealer that the hold on our Ram was due to the auto trans/exhaust brake issue. This was discussed by Carlton Bale on another thread, but there hasn't been any update posted there pertaining to the problem.

Recently I found out that our truck has gone to D1 as of 3-25.

Does anyone know if there has been any resolution to this problem? Has anything been done to strength the trans or changes made? Or is it just a dead issue for the 04. 5's?

Thanks, Jim.

I can assure you they have not stopped the line for a transmission mod. the 48re line still running 5 days a week. as for the exhaust brake compatibility. I am trying to get up to the test garage and talk with an enginner and see if they are now, been really busy at work though.

I had time to go to the garage at work today, the engineer I went to see was not in,vacation. anyhow I seen a buddy that runs the dyno's. ,he is checking with the head enginner to see if and when they made the rolling change to the new thrust washer,he was not sure and would not say,I will be going back tommorrow to find out. while there I seen something, not a cummins epa strick with them and dynoing them for to many hours, the new srt v-10 on the dyno with the 48re simulating 14,000 lbs trailer ,wow that gasser is a mule. and bonus is they are testing the transmission with that heavy load. :--)

New issue of Truck Trend has article about Dodge/Cummins and they state it is approved for a e-brake. Do I believe everything I read -no. DCX has plenty of money it looks like, because they will be sending me a dividend of $1. 50 a share. I just wish they could get their product problems fixed.

what I found today ,is that they are not ready for the brake. per head engineer rwd. there is not a date for the change to the new thrust washer. sorry for the bad news.

BRayls,

Thanks for all your effort. I can live with the news. I just don't know why it took so long to go 'D1'. Checked today... still 'D1'. Anyway, we plan on keeping it a while (when we finally get it!!!), so ATS or DTT may hear from us somewhere down the road. I really appreciate the effort you took to get the info and let all of us know. Jim
