E Brake on 4BT/4BTA

4BT-For Ford/For Sale

Whaddya guys think? Would the frame be up to the task on either one of these? I might be able to trade something for the former, and I found the latter for sale at a pretty reasonable price. I know the 5. 38 gears would HAVE to go, and I was thinking replace the front Dana 27 with a 44 as well. Would also want updated brakes, steering, etc.

Or would I be better off just going with a later model CJ?

Don you never stop amazing me!!! Hell of a job on the Travco, and now you and the miss's want to tackle this project. Nice, very nice!!

Just do it and don't worry about the frame strength!!!!

Yep next Don will be pulling that 6BT out and stuffing a M11 or N14 in the rear and making it a diesel pusher:D. Sorry Don, can't help with that question, I have no idea what those two vehicles are or look like:p. I'm sure you already know that 4Bt is damn near as heavy as our 6BT.

Nahhh, If I do something like that, it'll be with, say, an early '50s Flxible Clipper.

The M38a1 was the first "round fender" Jeep, and set the stage for the CJ5:

The CJ3B is, without a doubt, the BUTT-UGLIEST Jeep ever produced. HOWEVER... I would think that the high hood and grille would do a good job of accomodating the tall deck of the 4BT:

And Curtis, I could really put your welding expertise to good use, if/when this project comes into fruition.

heck if a 6 cyl. stock motor will tear up the frame on the CJ5 and CJ7 why do it with a torque monster in a 3B. . ton of effort unless you figure a way to strenghten the frame a waste O time IMHO

maybe a call to ask a few questions, a call to a frame Mfg. co to ask some questions re. where to add braces and metal to hold the additional torque. some of the co's are great guys and always willing to talk. bet that combo would be 2 / 3 / 4 times stock torque specs ... BUT you Have to do your homework or would be waste of time. . again JMHO

Well, I have been and still am doing my homework, and I'm in no major hurry to get started. In fact, I haven't even began aquiring any parts yet.

Do it right, or do it twice!

ive seen guys put a 4bt in a cj, big blocks in cj's, and everything else. and even high horse sbc's in cj3b's so i dont know why a 4b woudnt go in good. id just maybe do a few frame braces in a few places
