Is It Worth It?

High coolant temps

I'm thinking about putting a 4bt in my Jeep Wranger. I was wondering if the 4bt will bolt right up to a NV4500. Using the Cummins to NV 4500 Bellhousing?

yes, the 4bt is just like a 6bt but it's 2cyl's shorter... you'll need the Dodge block plate as well... the front accessories and motor mounts interchange as well

do you have the bell housing ??

reason I ask is I have a NV4500 to 98. 5 ISB bell housing sitting in the garage. . if ya need it email me

And a 1989/1993 Dodge NP-205 as was used behind the 5 speed getrag will bolt right up to the NV-4500. I have this combination ruiing in my 1943 Dodge Carryall. Cummins 1999 4BTA Recon, 1999 Dodge NV-4500, 1993 Dodge NP-205. Its a sweet setup. Pictures on my Image Event Site www.imageevent.com/paulandtam look at the 1943 Carryall album

Thanks for all the good info!

Do any of you guys know the weights of the 4bt and the 6bt?

Also the dimensions of the engines?

The 4bt is a 3. 9L engine?

My Cummins Shop Manual lists the 4BTA as weighing 725 and the 6BTA as 906 #. The shop manual says these weights are without electric components and flywheel. I have a drawing on the 4B series engines that show the following demensions; 30. 12 Long, 23. 33 Wide, 35. 16 high. I dont have demensions on the 6B series engines.

So what you are saying is that the Injecters, pistons and connecting are the same size between the 4bt and 6bt?

If you can get a 4BT from a bread truck or FedEx truck that is the best since the 4BT has a huge vibration issue-the bread truck engines have dampners/count weights built up in the block.
