I've got a 2013 Tradesman with a "Milky White" antenna mount. It's the only ABS plastic part on the truck that has done this. I ordered a new one, but before I turn the spanner? nut, I've got a question. If I remove the three slot nut, will the antenna base fall into the fender? I don't want to create a bigger problem.

Thanks

I'm interested in this as well. I did a quick search (Google) and didn't come up with an answer. Surely someone has changed the antenna base. I'll look a little closer when I get back to the truck.

Your defiantly not the only one with a faded base- I thought about just hitting it with a little rattle can bed liner. After removal of course.

Yes it will drop, what you can do is leave the mast attached loosely to use as a handle while swapping out the plastic piece

Update: Purchased a new plastic mount. (Part# 0506 4395 AF) Cheap enough at $4 and change. Then, I figured I could just rig a tool to take off the three prong spanner nut. I "lightly" tried and saw I was going to booger the nut so I ordered the correct socket from Summit Racing. (Part# SXT-392103)

***As mentioned before, the antenna base will fall into the fender if not held. It does have two very light holding tabs but the slightest bump would cause the base to fall without the mount and nut in place.

The good news is the socket from Summit has a hole through it and will slide down over the antenna allowing the antenna to stay attached while changing the mount. So no need to remove the antenna to do the swap. Takes all of 2 minutes.
