NOTE: I know this is probably bad forum etiquette, but I originally posted this in General Diesel section. BUT, since it's regarding a 4th gen, I'll post here and ask for forgiveness later :)

Not sure if I am breaking a forum rule, or if this is in the wrong section. So, apologies in advance.

Hi All,

I am looking for a mechanic in the Phoenix AZ area. I am starting to actively pursue some trucks, and figured it'd be a good idea for someone who actually knows these things better than I to have a look before purchase. Mechanically speaking, I don't have enough in-depth knowledge to know what to look for (aka diesel noob). Since this would be my first diesel, I don't really know any diesel mechanics in the area. I was hoping to reach out to the TDR community to see if they have a good reference I can run with. It's going to be a 4th gen 6.7 in the 2016-2018 MY, most likely a 2500.

I can post more details if needed.

I thank everyone in advance. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I will keep an eye on my PM inbox as well.

Most have forgotten more than I know about these trucks on this forum, so my 2 cents. I would suggest buying those years as the last of the proven cast iron 6.7s. My new 2018 leftover qualifies and after a EcoDiesel I did some serious vetting. So far she has been a gem and I don't baby it.A good mechanic? I would suggest buying a FCA max care factory warranty. It will reduce your financial exposure, especially if you are not personally qualified to turn wrenches, like me.

Good luck!

Thank for the pointers. I will do my usual inspection stuff. In addition, I will check drive and idle times (learned about that with my current truck) and bring my scan tool.
