Parts aren't yet available, but keep an eye out for a leak near the front fuel filter. I probably will never have the problem because I live in Miami, Fl. The diesel fuel heater probably only activates at temps below 50 degrees.

LOL, so you may have problem which could lead to a fire but we can't fix it.

Or.....in my case the heater was not activated at the factory and there is a TSB out on that. So I can go get it activated and then have a fire? I reside in Ca. where we do get a bit cooler than Florida but I believe I will leave this alone for now. I suppose the connector would be corrected but it does concern that down the line a few years this could be an issue again.

I'm not going to let them deactivate mine. I want it fixed. I bought it from a*stealership in North Carolina. So it was activated. No dealers had a G56 down here in S. Florida. So i had to shop wider. I plan to travel outside of the state in the winter (not this year, but in the future), so I want it to work.

I think the recall is for the under the hood filter assy, and it's the rear frame mounted filter assy that had the activation TSB.........

Oops...I goofed....it wasn't a TSB, not sure exactly what the right term is. Some early 2014 trucks had a software issue or something where the fuel heater in the rear filter unit wasn't enabled and did not work. They have to activate through the body control module.

14-001-14. The TSB describes the rear fuel filter mounted heater my be inoperative due to non-activation from the factory. The dealer can update your software and then enable the heater.

If you just pop off the engine mounted heater plug and pack it with dieelectric grease this issue with the plug failing should go away.....

Thats a great question. I have a service appoint to update various software TSBs found in issue 86. I think there were 3 or 4 of them that applied. And that was one of them. We'll see on the 18th. My first visit to a star dealer service department ever.

The engine fuel heater was never an issue has always been turned on that is. The heater that was forgotten about was the one under the bed. Someone forgot to tell the computer it was there and needed to be turned on.

Is that the fuel heater for the under bed fuel filter? Or is there a heater to keep the fuel from freezing (actually to keep it from turning into gel) in the tank?

Newsa, there are only two heaters. One is in the frame mounted filter head near the fuel tank and the other is part of the engine mounted filter unit. There are no fuel heaters in the tank.

I believe the Recall is for the engine mounted heater after reading the description of the potential problem.

The TSB I referenced earlier is only for the rear mounted filter on early model trucks. The TSB details how to go about turning on the power to the heater in the rear of the truck.
