Air filters have changed for my 2018 from a universal everyone used the same thing to "Something Different" including MOPAR's offerings.

Old design. There be a reason it's heavy metal and bent to strengthen it.

My last oil change 6 months ago I replaced the air filter with a Wix from the local store as I didn't mail order a better filter. (Out of stock where and when I ordered.)

Like the E-Core AC Delco Oil filters Wix re-imagined the air filter to use a large plastic grid vs. the metal we are used too. The plastic grid is flat to the element here.

Fast forward 6 months (7358 miles) and I find the grid is deforming toward the turbo. over a 1/4 gap from the element now. Literally stick a screwdriver in it to show how much deflection it has. IMO this deflection will affect the edge seal as well as allow element collapse like the weak E-Core oil filters are known for. That's a lot of movement for the element material as well. Next stop if the element collapses and fails is the turbo. This plastic ain't gonna stop it! Wix missed the boat when re-imagining the filter for our Cummins Diesels.
