need to have alot of frontend work done next week. ball joints, upper/lower, tie rods ends, front cv joint, and front drive shaft repair. Along with new front brakes. They quoted me $199. 99 for a 4wd alignment. It seems really high to me. What are you guys paying for an alignment.

My 04 dually with 260K miles has never been into a shop for front end parts or alignment... . we rotate the tires every 6,000 - 7,500 miles or so... and its still going strong with no excessive front tire wear... my 04. 5 and 05 also have never had work... but they both have less than 100K miles each...

As I understand the front axle of the 4x4 there is no adjustment unless you change parts to make the moves... that is adjustments for caster, camber, and toe is adjusted with the tie rod ends...

In the 04 I have put a left front set of wheel bearings and u-joints in this truck but that is all... and now that we understand how to grease the bearings we won't be having any more bearing failures on these trucks...

I've read a lot on these boards about ball joints but we run 225/19. 5" on our trucks and don't seem to have problems... If I was having tire wear issues I'd sure look... but we don't trust most of the tire shops for good answers... .

Just my thoughts.....

You need to clarify what they have quoted;

Is it a front end alignment only on a 4X4 or is it a 4 wheel alignment (both front and rear axles) on a 4X4.

If its just the front end, $199. 99 is spendy.
