Have a 2011 3500 crew cab dually auto with an electrically controlled transfer case. Question on transfer case, in 4WD high dash light flashes twice then stays on steady and truck goes. Howerer, in 4WD low dash light flashes constantly truck goes but there is no difference in pulling power. It seems as if the transfer case does not go into 4WD low. Is this the normal operation of the electric controled transfer case? DDT

If the light is flashing then the transfer case has not completed shifting. With an automatic you need to put the transmissing in neutral or park first then shift from high to low or low to high. The automatic will hold enough torque on the transfer case to prevent it from shifting.

And sometimes you have to roll the truck JUST a little to get it into and out of 4 wheel low or high. You'll hear the crunch as it goes in and out.

Thanks we will try that. DDT

I've found that I have the truck rolling in netural (less than 1 MPH) in order for it to shift from 4 high to 4 low or 4 low to 4 high.

Pretty sure most truck manuals will tell you to do a very slow roll with no torque applied to shift into 4low and the same to go back out of low. No syncro s for low range so it helps to have a lil movement

Tried shifting into 4WD with transmission in park but transfer case would not go into 4WD high or low. Tried shifting into 4WD high and low with transmission in neutral, it went into 4WD high easily and quickly. However shifting into 4WD low takes much longer than shifting into 4WD high but transfer case will shift into and out of 4WD low. DDT

Stop put it in neutral switch to 4 low goes right in. Stop place truck in neutral turn switch to 4 high goes right in. Works really well.

Like said above, the owners manual says to have the truck rolling very slowly when shifting in and out of 4wd low.

I also own a 2011 3500 mega cab and it acts the same way. I have to go from reverse to drive a few times befor it Ingages. I had a 2007 with a 6. 7 and it didn't act that way and my 2004 5. 9 don't either . I haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer.
