Quick question. I drove off my driveway this morning and burried my front tires in mud. OK, so I feel stupid, but I figure no prob. Put the pig in 4WD and get out, right? Locked hubs, tried 4Lo, 4HI... nothing. The rears were moving, but the front tires had no power. Incidentally, it seemed that the transfer case lever moved rather easily. I could still feel the shift gates, but it seemed that it was a lot easier to move.

I'm sure I ****** all of my neighbors off. Straight pipe that stops mid-bed, wide open throttle. Loud. Did I mention it was 4am?

In any case, what do you guys think? Hubs? T-case. No strange noises anywhere... I'm at a loss.

I had this happen to me a while back. I had the truck in low range, I had just cleaned the truck all up and wanted to move it very slowly accros my yard so I would not get it dusty. So I got in to leave and I could not get out of low range, and to top it off I was on the way to church for my own wedding:eek:  :-laf I got my brothers who were there to see me off to crawl under the truck and figure out what was wrong. Seemed the pin that attached the shift lever to the linkage on the transfer case had fallen out, so they put in a bolt and lock nut. And I made it in time for my wedding. I guess it was murphys law. Hope this helps.

This is an easy one;) The same thing happened to me also. I crawled under her and still had the pin , so I just put it back in, used a new washer and a cotter pin. Only about a 5-10 minute job. I thought something serious had happened at the time but then realized it was more than likely minor with the shifter handle moving that easily:D

Hi,

I had the same thing happen on my truck, but with a little bit different twist than the two fellas that have posted before me. My hubs were bad. I could shift the transfer case, but did not get any power to the ground. I found this out by having a friend watch to see if the front knuckles in the front axle where turning when I stomped on it in the mud. It is advisable, if you want to keep your friends, to have them stand out of the way so if the truck takes off you don't RAM them or don't splatter them with mud. A new set of Warner hubs from NAPA fixed my problem. This is just another idea, I hope it helps.

Hubs

Thanks for the posts, fellas. As it turns out, since I was going in reverse all of the time (trying to get out), my hubs never engaged. However, in the process, I did manage to destroy them completly from inside. New hubs are on the way.

Thanks again.
