Unplug the 4wd switch from the harness at the CAD box (where the center axle connects/disconnects), unscrew the switch from the housing, reconnect. With someone at the dash and the key on, push the switch plunger in as far as you can. If you now have a 4WD light you have no electrical problem - just a vacuum motor/vacuum circuit that is loosing its ummph. It may still slide the coupling sleeve to engage 4WD, but not far enough to close the indicator switch. Most commonly this will mean a new vacuum shift motor (has anyone sucessfully rebuilt one??) at least at some point soon.
